With only three wins against the All Blacks, Wales have the odds stacked against them, with the last win coming as far back as 56 years ago; the hosting venues have not done much to brighten the Welsh hopes. Only once in the last ten meetings have these two actually run out on New Zealand soil and hat was a 55-3 Hamilton hammering for Wales in 2003. Wales have never before played at Carisbrook in a Test match, although they have taken on a local Otago side. Wales are the only major rugby union side not to have played the All Blacks at Carisbrook and ironically it will also be the last team the All Blacks plays at this historical ground. The year 2008 marked 100 years of test rugby at this ground, Carisbrook and included an intense game against the mighty Springboks, the current World Champions. The All Blacks were embarrassed last year when a powerful French side visited and caught the hosts napping. Will Wales produce another shock? As another fanatical rugby nation, Wales coming to Dunedin, will try to make this historical venue remember them as their coach Warren Gatland used his experience of the conditions to flips the tradition of the ground that has favoured the All Blacks more often than not. Wales rugby coach Warren Gatland himself a former All Blacks hooker, takes pleasure from his team's form from their performances so far and is convinced that they could be in a position to end a poor record on New Zealand soil. Weakened by injury the Welsh have been widely written off ahead of their two-test tour of New Zealand, which starts in at Dunedin this Saturday 19th June, 2010. Wales finished a disappointing fourth in the Six Nations, losing to France, Ireland and England, and followed that up with a 34-31 loss against the Springboks at home collapsing in the second half of the game, much to the disappointment of Gatland. The only saving grace was that they had lost to the reigning World Champions. Watch New Zealand vs. Wales 19th June rugby live online.

The Six Nations showed glimpses of what the Welsh are capable of, Gatland added.
"We tried to play positive rugby, we passed the ball over 200 times more than any team," he said.
"We created more chances with more offloads in the game so the way the breakdown is now being interpreted is encouraging.
"Last year in November, I thought the game of rugby was a poor spectacle. Now, if you want to play some attractive rugby, you're able to do that."
Former All Blacks hooker Gatland was really surprised by how easily Ireland succumbed in the All Blacks' opening test of the year at New Plymouth last week. However, the sending off of Irish No 8 Jamie Heaslip sparked the 66-28 rout, something the coach would remind his players about.
"We've had a game under our belt and a week's break so hopefully if we can keep 15 players on the field we can put up a reasonable display."
A former Waikato stalwart, Gatland does believe in his knowledge of New Zealand rugby and its psyche was helping his players, most of whom haven't toured here.
Previous Welsh sides in New Zealand haven't had a strong local connection and it has shown. The last three tests here have resulted in massive losses - 55-3 in 2003 and 54-9 and 52-3 in 1988.
"It's an advantage knowing the venues and the people and perhaps some of my experiences of being in New Zealand and travelling and how difficult it is," Gatland said, adding he was aware what impact the last test at Carisbrook would have on the All Blacks.
